We're here to talk about the future near-term and long-term evolution of STARFLEET, the International Star Trek Fan Association, Inc. Please try to keep an open mind and remain civil! It's fine to disagree, but please have the courtesy of focusing on the topic at hand, rather than on the person you disagree with. Ranks and titles don't matter; one of the things that's impressed me most about this conversation already is the way people are chiming in with ideas, and no matter who they are, other folks are listening with respect. There are sure to be pros and cons for most of the ideas being discussed, but we should stay out of the trap of considering anything about present-day STARFLEET as an untouchable "sacred cow." HTML-encoded "styled text" messages and attachments will be stripped from all posts. Please do not send them, or what reaches the list may bear little resemblance to what you had in mind.
